Product Manager

The Product Manager is responsible for day-to-day leadership and championing of new product development and marketing initiatives at Rottentomatoes.com. This position includes research and assessment of user needs, key metrics analysis of on- and off-site product performance, development and execution of strategies to improve user experience and monetization including support for sales initiatives including sponsorship and promotions programs.
Successful candidates thrive in a collaborative, process-driven, team-based environment. The position requires interaction with a wide variety of stakeholders at various levels internal and external to the company. The product manager must possess the ability and willingness to balance consumer needs with business priorities and articulate the rationale behind decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Work with  the engineering organization to establish strong product development processes, including project planning, documentation and change control.
  • Coordinate initiatives and manage cross functional teams within the organization – specifically Engineering, Editorial, Business Development, Ad Solutions, Sales, and Creative Services – to achieve results.
  • Work with  to create, maintain and execute the organization’s product roadmap. Provide ongoing reporting on active projects and lessons learned from past initiatives.
  • Champion and shepherd new product and content initiatives, which improve user experience and achieve targeted key metrics improvements.
  • Author and maintain product documentation such as PRDs, wireframes, UI specs, site maps, etc.
  • Establish project schedules (workstreams, milestones and deliverables) and manage progress to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Monitor financial and non-financial key performance indicators and create regular reporting for Sr. Staff on trends affecting performance.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices and other information beneficial to the organization.

Skills/Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of web product development and marketing management experience
  • Strong leadership, project management and organizational skills
  • Strong grasp of information architecture and user interface best practices
  • Results-oriented with a willingness to take responsibility and initiative
  • Must work well in a ‘start-up’ and metrics-based environment.
  • Detailed understanding of internet technologies
  • Proven ability to write product specifications
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Movie/entertainment passion, knowledge and experience
  • BS or BA required
  • MS Visio, Project, Excel and PowerPoint
